Senator Mazie K. Hirono (D-Hawaii) today issued the following statement on the first anniversary of the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard shooting: One year ago, Roldan Agustin and Vincent Kapoi, Jr. reported to work at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard to continue their vital role supporting our military and national security.By that afternoon, our state was shaken by news of a mass shooting at the shipyard. The anxiety of waiting for more information turned to grief at the news thatRoldan and Vincent lost their lives, and a third employee, Roger Nakamine, was wounded who thankfully later recovered. No community in our country, even in Hawaii, is immune from the tragedy of gun violence.Though we cannot ease the pain of their loss, I join the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard ohana in extending my thoughts and aloha to their loved ones. As we honor the memory of Roldan and Vincent, we also offer our gratitude to the Navy and first responders who courageously rushed into action to save lives. ### Print Email Tweet Previous Article 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
