The funds will support NDSUs Mountain-Plains Consortium (MPC), which focuses on safe, mobile and sustainable passenger and freight transportation. The MPC has conducted projects on transportation operations, low-cost safety enhancements, high-risk rural roads and work zone safety, which are related to the DOTs safety and security objective. While North Dakotas population continues to grow, there are still very many rural parts of our state, Hoeven said. The researchers at NDSUs Mountain-Plains Consortium are working to tackle issues that affect transportation, which is especially important in our rural areas because they can carry their own unique risks and hazards. Todays grant will allow the folks at MPC to continue the important work they are doing to ensure the safety of North Dakotans. The Mountain-Plains Consortium, led by NDSU, is the Region 8 Transportation Center and is made up by Colorado State University, South Dakota State University, University of Colorado, Denver, University of Denver (Colorado), University of Utah, University of Wyoming and Utah State University. -###- Print Email Tweet Next Article Previous Article 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
