Our young people are our future, and the values and work ethic that Boy Scouts instill into young men help them build the character and skills they need to become the leaders of tomorrow, Hoeven said. The Energy Merit Badge is a way to encourage Boy Scouts to learn about our nations energy industry and recognize just how much it enhances our quality of life. This award is a great honor, and its a pleasure to thank the folks at the Boy Scouts of Americas National Capital Area Council for this distinction. Hoeven, who serves on the U.S. Senate Energy Committee, has worked extensively to advance the right kind of energy plan for America, which includes building the energy infrastructure the nation needs, like the Keystone XL pipeline project, and lifting the oil export ban to enhance energy security and reduce fuel costs at the pump for consumers. Hoeven has also worked to reduce the regulatory burdens that drive up the costs of energy for developers and consumers, including efforts to repeal rules like the BLM Hydraulic Fracturing rule, the onerous Waters of the U.S. rule and other regulations that are hampering domestic energy development and increasing the cost of energy for American families and businesses.
