Early Explorers’ Head Start program serves children ages three to five in the communities of Anamoose, Devils Lake, Harvey, Rugby, Towner, Turtle Lake and Velva while its Early Head Start serves children ages three and younger across Wells and Ramsey counties. “We all understand the desire to build a better future for our children,” Hoeven said. “By investing in education, we help them grow, learn and succeed, which will empower them throughout their lives. This HHS grant will support the development of children in a large part of rural North Dakota, promoting their well-being and future academic success.” The funds are made available through HHS’ Head Start program, which seeks to promote school readiness for low-income children through comprehensive health, educational, nutritional, social and other services. As a member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, Hoeven works to support programs that supplement state and local efforts to improve student achievement in primary and secondary education, especially for the disadvantaged and those in rural communities.
