A freedom salute ceremony was held to welcome the 1919th CCT unit home following its deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. A separate send-off ceremony was held for the 814th Medical Company as the unit prepares to deploy to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. “Today is an important and proud day for the State of North Dakota as we welcome home the 1919th Contingency Contracting Team and prepare for the deployment of the 814th Medical Company,” said Hoeven. “Both of these units are comprised of highly skilled, disciplined soldiers, and we are grateful to each one, as well as their families, for the sacrifices they make defending our nation’s freedoms. They represent the very best of our country, and we are proud and thankful for the work these units are doing on behalf of our state and country.” The 1919th Contracting Team Soldiers are based out of Bismarck. The unit specializes in planning, coordinating and issuing contracts for supplies and services needed to support other U.S. forces serving in the region as well as civilian organizations, in-country contractors and other foreign businesses. The 814th Medical Company is based out of Bismarck with a detachment in Grand Forks. Approximately 65 Soldiers make up the unit that will deploy to Afghanistan early next year to provide emergency trauma service and operate troop medical clinics.
