Jim Risch selected three college students from the state of Idaho to serve as interns in his Washington, D.C. office this summer. The interns have had the opportunity to engage at the national level of government while assisting with constituent services and legislative research. “Interning in the U.S. Senate is an excellent way to learn about the legislative branch of government and to see where much of our nation’s early history took place,” said Risch. “This group has served Idaho well during their internship and each has a bright future ahead.” The interns are: Erin Bamer, a native of Boise, is a senior at the University of Idaho in pursuit of a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcasting and digital media, with a minor in communications studies. She is the daughter of Jeff and Gail Bamer. Erin is a member of UI’s Student Media department and will work as the news editor of the school newspaper and associate editor of the school’s magazine during her final year. Nathan Fisher of Boise will enter his final year this fall at the University of Idaho, studying for a Bachelor of Science dual degree in agricultural economics and political science. He is the son of Nate Fisher, Sr. and Jean Fisher. Nate has served as the UI student body president from May 2014-15 and also as the UI student lobbyist to the state legislature from May 2015-16. Brennan Summers, a native of Idaho Falls and a junior at Utah State University, is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and communications. He is the son of Shayne Summers and Nancy Summers. Brennan currently serves as a Utah State University Ambassador and previously served as an intern in Senator Risch’s Idaho Falls office when he was a senior in high school. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
