U.S. Sen. Jim Risch selected three college students from around the state of Idaho to serve as summer interns in his Washington, D.C. office this summer. The interns have had the opportunity to engage at the national level of government while assisting with constituent services and legislative research. Interning in the U.S. Senate is an excellent way to learn about the legislative branch of government and to see where much of our nations early history took place, said Risch. This group of interns has served Idaho well and shown great promise. The interns are: Kaitlin Wallis is a junior at Hillsdale College and native of Sandpoint. She is studying Financial Management with a minor in Politics. Kaitlin is the daughter of Karen and Bert Wallis. Porter Chelson, a native of St. Anthony, is a senior at Brigham Young University studying Communications with an emphasis in Journalism and Digital Media. He is the son of Gary and Shannon Chelson. Porter has worked previously for the BYU Athletics Marketing Department and also as a campus tour guide. Andrew Roan is a graduate of Colby College and a native of Boise, with a major in Government with an emphasis in Middle Eastern Politics and Islamic Law. He is the son of Dr. Peter Roan and Dr. Cari Coleman.
