We need to do everything we can toprotect our families and our homes from devastating floods. These new federal funds will help by restoring the Wailupe Stream Boulder Basin to full strength," said Senator Schatz, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee. As we continue to recover from the natural disasters in 2018, I will keep fighting for more federal resources at every opportunity. This new federal grant came from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The funding will not only restore the basin to its pre-disaster condition, but will cover additional improvements to prevent similar damage from severe weather in the future. To date, Hawaii has received more than a half a billion dollars in federal relief funding to help the state recover from the 2018 natural disasters. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
